Tereasa is the Chief of the Office of Forensic service for the Ohio Department of Mental Health. She has been with ODMH since March 2009. In her current role, she oversees several forensic programs specifically the Community Linkage Social Work program, Forensic Monitoring/Conditional release and Common Pleas Psychiatric Forensic Center work. She also provides oversight and direction to mental health diversion programs, juvenile justice programs and programs that work with veterans involved in the criminal justice system.
Prior to coming to ODMH she worked at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for over fifteen years. While at ODRC, she held various jobs beginning as a Temporary Activity Therapist at Oakwood Forensic Center (now Oakwood Correctional Facility), then moving into a correctional officer position at the same facility. She also did a brief stint as a correctional lieutenant before moving into a more clinical role as a social worker. The remainder of her years with ODRC consisted primarily of clinical work as a social worker, social work supervisor and mental health administrator. Tereasa spent almost nine years at Oakwood before transferring to the Ohio Reformatory for Women for two years. In 2004, she transferred to ODRC's Division of Parole and Community Services (DPCS), central office, as the Offender Services Network (OSN) Administrator where she remained until accepting her current position of Chief of the Office of Forensic Services, ODMH.
Tereasa's experiences include work with various populations of individuals involved in the criminal justice system (e.g. individuals diagnosed with Mental Illness and/or Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, individuals with substance abuse issues, veterans, sex offenders, older offenders and offenders with medical issues). She has extensive experience with policy development, implementation, monitoring and analysis, treatment program development and implementation, licensure and accreditation practices, contract oversight, strategic planning and leadership.
Tereasa has a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University. She is an LISW-S and has completed the Ohio Certified Public Manager's two year program. Tereasa is a Certified Public Manager (CPM).
